Right from the beginning, the smart ethos has been about getting the best out of motoring while making minimal impact on the environment. (And of course, having fun while doing it.)
The new diesel smart fortwo is a great example of our thinking. Using the world’s smallest direct injection engine, the fortwo cdi achieves a remarkable 83.1mpg (combined), while producing just 89g/km of CO2.
The other members of the smart family aren’t far behind – even the BRABUS Xclusive model with its powerful 98bhp engine is able to boast CO2 emissions well below 130g/km. smart's 61 bhp petrol fortwo received a prestigious Globe award from the Oko-Trend Institute for Environmental Research, thanks to its low fuel consumption, minimal noise and pollutant emissions and ecologically-conscious life cycle.
We’re not content to rest on our laurels however – the smart fortwo mhd with its fuel saving stop-start mechanism and the forthcoming award-winning electrically powered smart ed are set to push the vanguard even further, making sure the smart’s future is bright – and green.
