The smart ebike brings a whole new aesthetic dimension to cycling – an electric bike that bears the clear hallmarks of a smart, setting itself apart from the conventional pedelec design. The brakes on the smart ebike offer two important benefits: added safety provided by the premium disc brakes and a higher battery charge resulting from the use of released kinetic energy.
The Magura hydraulic disc brake system ensures high braking power and braking safety, even in wet weather, thanks to the 180 mm perforated brake discs. The brakes also control the recuperation of energy. Operating the brake lever is all that is needed to trigger this function – it interrupts the assistance from the electric motor, channelling the kinetic energy to the battery instead. Energy recuperation can also be set manually on the basic display. This is useful on long downhill slopes, for example.
It is the electric drive that makes a bicycle a pedelec. The electric drive assists your muscle power, replacing tedious pedalling with an effortless ride. With every push on the pedals, you will see how easy it can be to master even the toughest routes effortlessly. Needless to say, the smart ebike can also be used for regular cycling without power assistance. Simply switch off the drive system and continue pedalling in bicycle mode. Or you can select one of the four generator levels and decide how much you want to recharge the battery while pedalling or riding downhill. Whether in bicycle, drive or generator mode, the gears are changed via a 3-speed gear hub from SRAM. Incidentally, pedelec riders don’t need any insurance or a driving licence and can use cycle paths.
Carbon toothed belt.
The smart ebike has deliberately dispensed with the conventional bicycle chain. The toothed belt combines a number of benefits: it lasts twice as long as a chain, requires neither lubricant nor maintenance, does its job quietly and weighs in at a mere 80 grams. And what's more, this high-tech solution also looks really good.
The standard 22-tooth belt pulley transmits your pedal power to the rear wheel. The optional and exchangeable belt pulleys enable you to adjust the power transmission to your personal style and environment: 20 teeth for higher speeds on flat routes or 24 teeth for easier cycling uphill.
The battery is part of the smart ebike’s clear design: With 423 watt hours, the compact lithium-ion battery is among the most powerful on the market. It's powerful enough to cover up to 100 km – depending on the cyclist, the cycling style, the topography, and the selected drive or generator level. The battery’s position also provides for safe and stable handling: integrated in the frame triangle, it is an ideal counterweight to the motor in the rear wheel.
